Sustainable cups on the Coffee-Bike

The franchise's baristas now offer cold drinks in transparent cups made of recycled plastic

At the Coffee-Bike there are not only hot coffee specialities, but also refreshing cold drinks. In addition to Iced Latte and the respective Summer Specials of the year, some bikes also offer caffeine-free alternatives such as smoothies, milkshakes and freshly squeezed orange juice. As Coffee-Bike GmbH is aware of its social and ecological responsibility, the coffee franchise company has opted for a new alternative made of recycled plastic, the so-called Clear Cups, for these specialities.

 

Advantages of the Clear Cups

The sustainable cup with Coffee-Bike branding is made of 100 percent recycled plastic, or R-PET for short. The previously used Clear Cup made of high-quality corn starch-based bioplastic (PLA) could not be stored in direct sunlight or above 40 degrees Celsius. "The newly introduced cups not only offer the decisive advantage that they do not melt at higher temperatures, but by using them they also no longer provide a reason for the production of new plastic," explains Mark Rüter, Managing Director of Coffee-Bike GmbH. The Clear Cups are fully recyclable and available in 300 ml and 400 ml fill volumes.

 

Coffee-Bike rethinks the to-go business

"Sustainable cups" is also the motto of the franchise's deposit cup system introduced in November 2021. At all participating Coffee-Bikes, Frahling lovers will have the opportunity to order their favourite coffee speciality in a returnable cup and leave a one-euro deposit. The deposit cup can be returned at all Coffee-Bikes in Germany and Austria. At the mobile coffee bars, there are also reusable cups in which customers can conveniently get their favourite drink again and again - simply to take away and come back to. The cup not only keeps the hot coffee speciality warm for up to 30 minutes, but is also dishwasher-safe and offers an optimal drinking experience thanks to the striking orange lid. Still in the range are the disposable cups, which are 100 per cent biodegradable and consist of a PLA inner coating. "We convince not only with our high-quality products, but also with consciously selected consumables. Our franchise partners can thus give Coffee-Bike customers special moments of enjoyment every day," reports Mark Rüter.
