No matter whether it’s morning, noon or night…coffee always tastes good. Depending on the time of day, however, the caffeinated drink can have different effects. But we want to take a closer look at the much-loved morning coffee. Most people can’t do without their morning wake-up drink. It is the elixir of life that gives you energy to start the day. It is not without reason that coffee consumption in Germany (?) averages around 160 litres per year per capita.

However, a new survey has now found out that drinking coffee too early in the morning can have negative effects on your health. But before you get scared, here are some facts about the study and its results.

Coffee between 8 and 9 am causes stress

The survey was conducted by doctoral students at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda in the United States. The scientists found out that the body produces more of the wake-up hormone cortisol between 8:00 and 9:00 in the morning. If you now add additional cortisol through the consumption of coffee, you will definitely be awake, but in addition, according to the survey, the hormone level can lead to an increased stress level as well as an increased susceptibility to diseases and weight gain.

At first glance, this sounds scary. However, there is good news. According to the research, if you drink your coffee between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. or between 1:30 and 5:00 p.m., you can improve your performance. During this time, the human body is in a cortisol low. Additional energy is very useful.

Where do these hours come from? Doesn’t everyone have different habits and therefore act differently? These questions may now arise in some people’s minds. Regarding the results of the survey, it should be said that the time of 8:00 a.m. is the estimated average time of awakening that the researchers used as a basis for their research. The general recommendation is to wait around 1 ½ hours after waking up before enjoying your first coffee. So if your alarm clock rings at 6:30 in the morning, you can also enjoy your beloved coffee at 8:00 with a clear conscience. Enough time to get ready in the morning and then take a fresh coffee from the Coffee-Bike with you on the way. It’s guaranteed to give you a good start to the day.
