13. September 2019
The German favourite drink is coffee specialities with milk. In this respect, the most popular and best-known are certainly the cappuccino and the latte macchiato. But anyone who thinks that this was all is wrong.
There are also many variations of this popular classic in other European countries. For example, do you know what a Viennese Blend is or what you get when you order a Flat White? We will enlighten you.
Classic coffee specialities with milk
Cappuccino: A cappuccino consists of half espresso and half foamed milk.
Latte Macchiato: The classic consists of one third each of hot milk, espresso and milk foam. The special feature is that the Latte Macchiato can be perfectly refined with various syrups such as vanilla, hazelnut or caramel. You can find out more about “Flavored Coffee” here.
White coffee: As the name suggests, a café with milk is a drink made from half coffee and half hot milk.
International coffee specialities with milk
Flat White: The Flat White consists classically of a double espresso with foamed milk. Sounds like a cappuccino, but the difference lies in the way it is prepared. The consistency of the milk in the Flat White is more liquid and there is also no milk foam hood as known from cappuccino.
Viennese Blend: The name says it all, the Viennese Blend comes from Austria. The special feature here is clearly the bean. For this coffee speciality, the beans are roasted together with sugar, giving them a delicious caramel aroma. Otherwise the preparation resembles a classical milk coffee. The Viennese Blend consists of half coffee and half foamed milk.
Espresso Macchiato: From Austria to Italy. The Espresso Macchiato is served in an espresso cup and consists of espresso with slightly foamed milk.
